Joe qualified from Queen’s University, Belfast, in 2000. He then relocated to Manchester to continue his education within the primary care field. After developing a keen interest in dental surgery, Joe joined a leading Manchester maxillo-facial unit enabling him to participate in major reconstructive surgery, notably by employing dental implants.

He has been working in private practice since 2006 and has a special interest in oral surgery and dental implants. He is passionate about restoring patient’s bite function and smiles. Whilst patients are often interested in making their teeth look well, their main function is to chew comfortably and efficiently.

He has continued with his postgraduate training, achieving an advanced Diploma in Implant Dentistry awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons in England in 2008. In 2017 Joe was privileged to be inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentistry and subsequent to this inducted as a Fellow in the College of General Dentistry in 2024.

Joe runs an oral surgery course in Fermanagh designed to improve general dentist’s confidence in managing extractions and their complications. He acts as a mentor for the Smilefast implant course and to individual dentists. He has been the Northern Ireland representative for the Association of Dental Implantology from 2021-2024, hosting study clubs in Belfast 3-4 times a year. Joe is now a Key Opinion Leader for Biohorizons Camlog implant company

Joe is not one to sit still and most recently has just taken over Grange Dental Care in Omagh. He intends to bring the latest technology into his new practice engaging with digital dental techniques and employing artificial intelligence to help with diagnosis of oral diseases and treatment plannin

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Joe teaches and mentors other professionals, particularly in surgical and implant dentistry. He was honoured as a Fellow of the International College of Dentistry in 2017 for his academic contributions and philanthropy.
